Last year, during World Breastfeeding Week, we presented a webinar panel discussion about tongue tie. This presentation included the perspective of an Ear Nose and Throat doctor, an IBCLC Lactation Consultant, a Doctor of Osteopathy and Mike Dowling, DMD. He was the pediatric dentist who provided his perspective. His practice, Dirigo Pediatric Dentistry, is able to treat newborns with tongue ties.

Because there are varying opinions about tongue ties and treatment, it is important to know about these services. Dr. Dowling believes that partnerships between practitioners facilitates better care and improves how parents learn and understand their situation. 

Joining the Maine State Breastfeeding Coalition as an Annual Patron Partner was a natural connection to reach IBCLCs, doulas and other birth workers.  Dr. Dowling appreciates the work the Maine State Breastfeeding Coalition does to support all families, even if they are not breastfeeding.
